22 Illini is the main campus bus route run by the Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District. The bus comes to most campus bus stops within 10 minutes.

The 22 Illini's bus stop at the Illinois Street Residence Hall provides legendary confusion in determining if the 22 Illini is "FAR-PAR" or "Engineering." The confusion is caused by the route looping back onto itself briefly. Students have been known to ask "Are you turning left or right?" countless times before boarding in reference to the bus turning north or south at the corner of Illinois Street and Goodwin Avenue.

Beginning in the fall 2007 semester, the 22 Illini has added a "north" or "south" to the sign on the bus, likely in response to this confusion.
