22 Illini
From U of I Wiki
22 Illini is the main campus bus route run by the Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District. During the Fall and Spring semesters the 22 serves the main campus operating all days of the week except holidays. On weekdays the bus is scheduled to arrive to most campus bus stops every 10 minutes from approximately 7am to 5am. However during peak servicing hours or inclement weather the bus service can back up dramatically often causing great frustration. During the day on weekends the 22 offers service every half hour until around 6pm where the bus resumes its normal every 10 minute service.
The 22 Illini's bus stop at the Illinois Street Residence Hall provides legendary confusion in determining if the 22 Illini is "FAR-PAR" or "Engineering." The confusion is caused by the route looping back onto itself briefly. Students have been known to ask "Are you turning left or right?" countless times before boarding in reference to the bus turning north or south at the corner of Illinois Street and Goodwin Avenue.
Beginning in the fall 2007 semester, the 22 Illini has added a "north" or "south" to the sign on the bus, likely in response to this confusion. However this sometimes further increases the confusion, because after the ISR bus stop, the 22North turns south, and the 22South turns north on Goodwin Ave.
