Alpha Lambda Delta (AΛΔ) is an honor society for first year students. It was founded in 1924, a year after Phi Eta Sigma, at the University of Illinois. Phi Eta Sigma was originally exclusively for men and Alpha Lambda Delta was exclusively for women. Today both societies are coeducational.

The requirements for admission are a 3.5 or higher GPA and placement in the top 20% of the class during the first year or term of higher education.
