"Muck Fichigan"/"Ann Arbor is a whore" T-shirt
"Muck Fichigan" was a slogan on the front of orange athletic T-shirts sold by the Te' Shûrt' clothes printing business on the Urbana-Champaign campus in 2002.
The slogan was a spoonerism for "Fuck Michigan," in reference to the university competing against the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. A spoonerism is a verbal play on words in which a speaker transposes the initial sounds of two or more words.
Some of the backs of the T-shirts read "Ann Arbor is a whore."
Although some students found the slogans humorous, others found them unsportsmanlike and offensive.
