Summary

The Google Fiber Initiative for the University of Illinois is an ongoing promotion for the University of Illinois to be chosen for Google's testing of ultra-high speed broadband networks. Google Fiber would deliver Internet speeds more than 100 times faster than what most Americans have access to today with 1 gigabit per second, fiber-to-the-home connections.

The new initiative's mission is is to ensure that the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign remains at the forefront of the technological and academic spheres.
