Illinois Street Residence (ISR) Hall is a dorm which houses over 1,100 students. In the fall semester of 2006, freshman comprised half of the hall while upper-classmen comprised the other half. However, since housing changed reassignment policies for students, the freshman population has gone down significantly in Illinois Street Residence Hall. During the 2008-09 academic year, there were less than 100 first year students who lived in the hall. ISR is one of the few residence halls on campus which contains air conditioning units within each room. ISR is a 4-5 minute walk to the Union and one of the central locations to each lunch during a passing class period.

ISR consists of two living quarters. Wardall (taller tower) is co-educational, while Townsend (shorter but U-shaped) houses only men. Though women and some men are separated by living quarters, residents still share a common area which includes the dining hall, lounges, computer labs, laundry areas, study carrels, and library.
