The Out of State Student Alliance (OSSA) is a registered student organization at the U of I since the spring semester of 2004. It's founder Bryan Fisher wondered why so many minority groups on campus have organizations except for the out of state students. After serveral meetings with the Visitors Center and the Office of Admissions and Records here at the university, Brain and a few others registered the group on March 16th 2004. Its members are students whose residences are outside of the state of Illinois, although all are welcome to join.

The vision of the Out of State Student Alliance is to serve the needs of the out of state community on campus while creating a social connection and interest between the students. It is important for OSSA to have an impact on our large campus by creating a substantial presence and making the campus population more aware of our issues. In additions, OSSA facilitate a relationship with the university as to help recruit new out of state students to the university while addressing our university issues on campus.
