Phi Eta Sigma

Phi Eta Sigma (ΦΗΣ) is a freshman national honor society founded at the University of Illinois on March 22, 1923. The founders were three professors, Phi Beta Kappa members, and university administrators.

All first-year students who have a cumulative gradepoint average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale at the close of any full-time curricular period during their first year are eligible to join.

Phi Eta Sigma is the third most senior member of the Association of College Honor Societies.
