Prospect Avenue

Prospect Avenue is a street approximately 1.5 miles west from the U of I Quad. However, colloquially, the term Prospect Ave usually is interpreted as the northern portion of the road, past I-74 and is the location of many shopping areas. In this location there is Marketplace Mall, several large chain restaurants, as well as grocery stores, and the nearest large movie theater. It is one of the largest shopping areas in the Champaign County. Consequently, many shoppers from surrounding small towns head to this area to shop or go out to eat. Also, there are few roads that lead to the area, and the street layout is rather poor, causing many traffic jams especially on weekends.
